Tonight, while looking for some scripture for the next Outreach and Membership meeting, I came across Acts 20:17-24. I find Paul to be heroic in this verse. Imagine what it must have felt like to be hunted down in such a vast region. Nonetheless, he believes that his life is worth nothing to him, if only he can finish his "task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace." Paul gives us a lot of food for thought. In today's world it can be scary to put yourself out there for the growth of your church and it's outreach missions. Paul is the ultimate role model for us. He was human, fearful, yet saw one overwhelming mission. Paul knows this as he says later in verse 35, "In everything I did, I show you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak..."
My fears about the O&M meeting were quickly put into perspective once I contemplated this passage. I feel blessed that I read this passage tonight.
Take care.
