Our pastor sent this along to me today. It is the most powerful post that I've seen so far this year. So it wins my unofficial award for Best "Church" Post of the Year.
You really need to read it, but more importantly, please watch the video at the bottom.
I love the message of this post, but I really love the use of Web 2.0 to promote a deeply spiritual message. I see this post as both mission and sharing about the greatness of one's church in the hope of bring people into a fabulous community of Christ. Growing the membership of a church is a mission, too! We often forget that. We want to avoid the dreaded "E-word" or we want to quickly assume that we are only promoting the church in order to bring in more pledging members. Don't get me wrong, a few more pledging members would really help; however, bringing people into our community of Christians is what we are called to do. Besides, why wouldn't we want to share what we love about our church with others? We have an abundance of a church that is wonderfully family oriented, multi-cultural, mission oriented, age diverse, loving and caring. Shouldn't we share that wealth?
Let me know what you think.
